July Bracket Field About To Be Set

July 28th, 2009 | by admin |

With just a few days left in July, the FFOC is close to announcing the field for the first of our 2009 playoff brackets. Last season the field for the July Bracket was slightly over 500 teams. As of yesterday, the field for 2009 was 1210 teams, spread over 121 leagues. With 4 days left to go, I easily see the field passing 1300 teams, with a outside shot of reaching 1500.

This may be where some of you complain that you will not have the same odds of winning what was easily the Open’s smallest playoff bracket of 2008. The bright side however is that it is a solid sign that the Open Championship is growing, which can only mean great things for all fantasy football players in the future.

One of the more interesting sub plots from last years July Bracket is that its winner, Eric Hefley not only finished 4th over all in the Las Vegas Bracket – but he was also the Open Championship’s pointts leader going into the final weekend in Las Vegas.

Something that some players don’t realize is that if you know you’re stuff, drafting in July can actually provide with you with certain advantages that you otherwise would not have once the first few weeks of NFL training camps have passed. You can get tremendous value on certain players who may not be high on other people’s draft boards quite yet. There can be some real late round gems when you draft in July.

There is still time to register and draft a team before the month ends, so don’t hesitate if you want to take a shot at the $5,000 prize up for grabs in the July bracket. It could be this team that takes off for you and makes you fantasy football’s NEXT MILLIONAIRE!

Talk soon,

Stan
